SU December '14 My Paper Pumpkin Revamp

My PAPER PUMPKIN DEC. 2014

Simply Snowflake Refill Kit
Refill kit available for all NEW Subscribers, stamps & ink not included
It arrived at my door just waiting for me to play with, don't you love these colors, the die cut snowflakes and all the goodies?

My Paper Pumpkin Club members were so excited to play with our December kits....so many fun possibilities. We meet the last Sunday of each month in Roseville, CA

We spent time putting together some of the beautiful cards as we munched on pizza, salad and cookie bars. We had fun chatting about our festive Thanksgivings, families and childhood Christmas memories. This group of ladies are soooo much fun and full of laughter and support for each other.

As you know I'm always looking for ways to revamp my kit so others can enjoy even more creative uses for the monthly get-away. So I decided to create a GIFT CARD holder with an added spot for a little treat. We all need gift card holders at this time of year. The Designers at Connie and Mary have lots of Gift Card samples for you this week HERE. Plus you might enjoy the DECEMBER "Brr it's Cold" inspiration at MY Pumpkin Challenge HERE.

I created 2 sections with a small base that allows it to stand up by itself.

The first section allows space to attach a small Christmas treat and stamp with snowflakes and one of the sentiments from the kit.

The second section allows plenty of space for an adorable gift card like these jump roping penguins ( it's one of those moving ones, so cute )

I decorated that section with more snowflakes and some of the punched out letters that were popped out from the TAG on the front ( such a bonus to have those letters )

So here is how to make the holder.......

Fold your card base at both of the score marks. Line up the score mark at the 1/2" mark on your cutter/scorer and make an additional score mark 1/2" from the original one.

Repeat on the other side making sure it is on the inside

Now you will need put a score mark down the middle of that section, so line up that first score mark you made at the 2 1/4" line and then score your middle score mark.

Now you should have 5 score marks, 2 that were originally there and 3 that you made inside of those.

Now it's time to fold your score marks as pictured above

Attach Red Double Sided STICKY STRIP to the inside on just one side

Remove the red film from the adhesive and press together that section.
It is now ready to decorate and stamp as I featured above.

Now for your Silver Bakers Twine closure...

You will want to make sure your stringing holes are lined up as evenly as possible. I suggest you use a ruler and place it up against the edge of the snowflake and follow down that edge with a pencil mark. Of course you will need 2 holes per side so Do this on both sides.

It can be a little tricky getting your punch in there to where your marks are. I used the NEW 1/8" circle and slide it in on the side as shown.

CONGRATULATIONS you made it to the end of the tutorial!

I truly hope you find time to put one of these fun holders together. If you post one on your blog or pinterest page feel free to send others here to view the tutorial.
