We All Know what month it is..... remember to get that test!
It's October and Breast Cancer Awareness month...it's the perfect opportunity to create a special little gift for one of my newer customers and now a friend. You know, when you have someone "new" come as a guest to one of your classes you never know the things you may have in common. Thank you Annie for introducing this sweet lady. (you 911 Dispatchers...ROCK!) She is just the sweetest person and has recently just finished up her treatments to deal with this ugly disease. Unfortunately it inflicts 1 out of 8 of us. Catch it early and you can do something about it. I KNOW, just like my new friend Susie, I will be celebrating 10 yrs. on. Nov. 1st. We each have a different story and also different treatments.
A quick wrap up of mine......
No Lumps, discovered through a mammogram. 2 areas contained DCIS meaning the cancer was in the ducts, same breast. I decided to do a mastectomy and because I caught it early it had not spread to my lymph nodes. No chemo , no radiation. Reconstruction took 2 years because I had a surgeon who was a perfectionist. I can tell that God's hand was in the whole process and I can celebrate now at being cancer free for 10 yrs.
On to my cute little holder today, it's just a reminder to you also that I'm so Grateful that you are in the World. No matter if you Are a survivor or not, I am so thankful and blessed that you come and visit each and everyday day.
Now as far as the treat holder goes, it just seemed appropriate to feature 2 little plump girls neatly wrapped together. I didn't know that WASHI TAPE works like a charm around the Hershey's nuggets....did you? I usually use patterned paper but I've found a new love.....so EASY! Aren't they adorable?
And the little container supporting the girls is made using Pink Piroutte card stock and the littlest Envelope Liner die. The paper is folded in half and shortened up in the die before cutting. It has a sweet little White and Silver Metallic belly band around the middle. ( ha ha, I just laughed at myself when I thought about the belly under the boobs). ALL is CALM DSP was used.
The sentiment is stamped in Basic Gray on white CS and is from the Chalk Talk stamp set. It's Available in SPANISH AND FRENCH too! If you trim down the edges it will fit quite nicely on a Extra Large oval of Silver Glimmer paper.
The pink ribbon is made from a small piece of 1/8" Taffeta ribbon and a couple of mini glue dots.
If you decide to CASE this fun little project and place on your blog I would appreciate you letting your viewers know where you found it. The more we can encourage others to be tested the more we can support each other through life's roller coaster of events. Now Let's Celebrate Life!
