Halloween File Folder Card

Wow it's almost October, have you started your Halloween paper crafting yet? Well, I obviously have! So have all the stampers at my last class. This is the second fun Halloween project of the 4 Fall class projects they created.

I will make mention right away that the rats are not Stampin'Up but another company's punch. pooh! However some of my stampers were creeped out by the rats and didn't include them anyway.....I will tell you their cards turned out just as HALLOWEENY. One of the fun parts for me was creating the file folder card base ahead of time for all my attendees. It's fairly EASY to make when you use  the Envelope Punch Board. (that's right, it's not just for making envelopes)

Here is just the front part of the file folder, notice the bat on the right hand side is missing, it's on the back part of the file folder.

This is the cut and scored piece before decorating, back of the card is on the left side and the front on the right. The front is a shorter width.

So let me show you how to make one.....

First you will need a piece of Tangerine Tango card stock  measuring 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and score in the center at 4 1/4". Cut one of the 4 1/4" sides shorter by 3/4", this will be the front.

2. Using the larger side of the folded piece(5 1/2" x 4 1/4") place the 5 1/2" side horizontally against the top of the envelope punch board. Bring the very corner of your cardstock so that the edge is even to the hole and almost up to the left edge. Punch and the first edge will look like the photo below.

3. As in the photo above, slide your card stock over to the 3" mark on the ruler of the envelope Punch Board and punch a second time. It will now look like the photo below.

4. Now you will need to remove the portion of the tab you will not be using. Line up the edge with the groove on your cutting board and cut off the extra piece. I choose to run my cutting blade from the bottom up to the edge of the file folder tab.

Now you will need to rotate your card stock 180 degrees to punch and trim the opposite shorter side. Repeat same method.

Using the shorter side of the folded piece(5 1/2" x 3 1/2") place the 5 1/2" side horizontally against the top of the envelope punch boardBring the very corner of your cardstock so that the edge is even to the hole and almost up to the left edge.
Repeat #'s 3 & 4

You will find on the opposite side of the punch a corner rounder feature. Insert each the two 90 degree file folder corners in that slot and punch one at a time.

It will look like this photo above when you are done.

Now if you want to decorate the front of your file folder you will need a piece of MOTLEY MONSTERS Designer series paper. Cut it 5 1/2" x 2 3/4". Make a wooden sign post from the same DSP pack measuring 3 1/2" x 1/2".

The Spooky Spooky, Screamy Screamy sentiment is easy to create with the dual colors. Simply ink the whole sentiment in Tangerine Tango ink and then drag the brush tip side of a Basic Black Marker on the top edge of each of the words. Just go right over the other ink. Stamp on a 2 1/4" x 1 3/4" piece of white card stock. Place that on a 2 1/2" x 2" black layer.

The black bats are using a retired Stampin Up punch and a Crushed Curry arrow tip from the What's Up punch, it's new this year.

Now it's time to try your own File Folder card! Whether it's HaLLoween, Fall or Christmas
I know you'll have fun trying this technique.

Be Scary BOO Treat Box

Trick or Treat ? well maybe a little of Each!

Today's little treat box is the 3-D project we did in my last stamp class in Rocklin. 13 Stampers had fun using the Petite Purse Die and Little Letters dies to create this unique little Halloween goodie container.

We simply cut off the flap on the top of the purse die. We then laid it out on the plate on top of the magnetic platform. Center the "O" from the Little Letters dies over the small 1/4" slit normally used to tuck in the purse flap. Next position the "B". Cover with the other clear plate and run through the Big Shot machine. You will need to do a second pass through the machine for a second "O".
Little Letters Thinlits Die by Stampin' Up!  Big Shot Magnetic Platform
How does a Magnetic Platform work?

Fold and assemble the Treat box with Sticky Strip adhesive. Punch 2 white 3/4" circles and glue behind the cut out "O"'s. Punch 2 1/4" circles. and glue the black dots in the position you want from the outside of the box. Color the rhinestones with the Pumpkin Pie Blendabilities marker and position as desired. Because the Blendabilities are alcohol based markers the color will stick to rhinestones, pearls, ribbon and metal.
Stampin' Blendabilities™ Markers Pumpkin Pie Assortment

Fill cello bag with a small amount of candy corn. I used a 3"x5" bag but I suppose you could use the 4"x 6" size and fold edges to fit it in the box. Tie a bow to close the bag with our newest Two Tone Trim.

White & Tangerine Tango Two-Tone Trim

At this point as I was designing my box I knew I wanted to incorporate some sort of Halloween sentiment. With the Little Letter cut outs I found that there  really wasn't much space to attach anything. Ta Dah, "a sentiment pick" was born! I used a SU Basic Black marker and the HOLIDAY INVITATION polymer stamp set. Using the brush side of the marker ink each sentiment separately before stamping on Tangerine Tango and Old Olive card stocks. Punch out sentiments using a 3/4" Circle and the Word Window Punch. You can back the cut outs with a second one on the back side of the toothpick for a finished look.

  Holiday Invitation Photopolymer Stamp Set

Tuck the finished pick down the center of the cello bag and into the bow. I know I will enjoy handing out several of these Scary BOO Boxes to friends and family. What about you?

Washi+Autumn Colors=Fall Fun

Today's festive card is Stuffed with Autumn Color and Fun Washi Designs!

Is the air getting cooler where you are?
Well Despite the warmer weather we are STILL having, I did see a
Liquid Amber showing it's blushing arms today. I can't wait for the
colors to SHout out in the days to come.

But for now I'll just have to settle for the colorful leaves in the Color Me Autumn DSP. This DSP has been like the Energizer Bunny for me...it just keeps  going and going. In fact there was plenty for my card class last week and I still have plenty to go....love it!

Looking for more Autumn Color Inspiration and a feeling of fall?

Come play the Autumn Color Challenge HERE

One of the things I like to do is take advantage of the coordinating products Stampin'Up pairs together. I'm talking about the Color Me Autumn Washi Tape.
Is yours sitting on the shelf waiting to be used? Don't OVER think this stuff because it really is so easy just to add a quick strip or two over a small panel. INSTANT color and pattern and re-positional if you don't get it straight the first time.
Color Me Autumn Designer Washi Tape

1.   Make a Crushed Curry card base or use one of the CUT AND READY card
      bases ( 20 prescored and precut) #136657
2.   Cut a Soft Suede panel 4" x 2".
FYI, The Neutrals Collection has 20 sheets, 2 each in 10 colors, perfect
for when you need small panels of the Neutral colors #131191
Neutrals 8-1/2" x 11" Card Stock
3.   Cut a DSP layer 3 3/4" x 1 3/4".
4.   Cut a Canjun Craze piece 4 1/4" x 2", punch one end using the
Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.  Pop up using Dimensionals
5.   Cut a Mossy Meadow panel 3" x 2 1/4".
6.   Cut a Very Vanilla layer 2" x 1 1/2".
7.   Using Canjun Craze ink stamp the sentiment from
the MINGLE ALL THE WAY on the vanilla layer.
8.   Wrap Washi Tape around the bottom of the Mossy Meadow panel.
9.   Wrap Crushed Curry Baker's Twine around the washi layer,
knot it and tie a bow.
10.  Punch some fun Crushed Curry leaves using the Bird Builder Punch.
11.  Pop up the Mossy Meadow layer with Dimensionals.
12.  Want even more detail? Regal Candy Dots to the rescue, just
peel and self sticky...how easy is that!

Seasonally Scattered meets Four Feathers

thanks to you for visiting today!
This playful and colorful card is probably my favorite from my last class I held in Rocklin. I love the color combo and bold contrast that the black creates when mixed with the Bermuda Bay and TAngerine Tango. My attendees loved how quickly the sentiment could be stamped in black, die cut and layered.

To pull out more of the black color we paired it together with the striped TYPESET Designer paper. I love that it created a bold pattern that didn't conflict with the busy design in the sentiment.

With the framed sentiment and designer paper in place it seemed fitting to ADD a small detail or two. My stampers loved the quick stamp and cut convenience of the Four Feathers  stamps and dies. The really cool thing is that Stampin'Up has bundled the two together for a 15% savings. That means NO FUSSY cutting and a real time saver. Don't you love how the single black feather adds a third accent of the black. Odd numbers do make a different when you are designing your project.

A small oval of Brushed gold card stock creates a base for my third Bermuda Bay accent....a small heart from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.

A small Rhinestone creates a touchable finish to the feather medallion. Gotta love a little touch of sparkle!

So what do you think?
