Technique Twist using the Traveler Train

This week's Technique Twist challenge is all about using new and innovative stuff! With Father's Day just around the corner it gave me an opportunity to make my Dad a card with the Train image from the new "Traveler" stamp set.
I found Rita's sketch @ Freshly Made Sketches as another inspiration to create today's card.....love the tag on it's side.

Not only is the stamp set new but also the paper...I used the new IN COLORS Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow
and the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack

I love the way the train stamped on the grid paper design and the coordinating banners give a clean look to the detailed train image. I even thought about those tiny little straps that get thrown in the trash when you are resizing a piece of paper....well, mine found a home on the end of my tag.

  • Make a Hello Honey card base 4 1/4 x 11 folded in half.
  • Cut 3 banners 4 x 3/4 using the Moonlight DSP, make the middle one a 1/4" shorter.
  • Stamp sentiment in Mossy Meadow in bottom right hand corner. Mine is one of the sentiments from the June 2014 Paper Pumpkin Kit.
  • I created the Mossy Meadow tag by taking a piece of paper measuring 4 x 2 3/4 and sliding it into the side of a Window Frames framelit die cut.

  • Stamp the train in Mossy Meadow ink on a DSP grid piece 2 3/4 x 2 1/2.
  • The banners are 3/4 x 4 with the center one 1/4 " shorter.
  • Make the tag hole reinforcer by using a 1/4 circle punch on the DSP and then punch a 1/2 circle over the existing hole.
  • Tie a piece of Linen thread on the tag and pop up the entire tag with dimensionals.

I'm sure my Dad will love this because he is such a Lover of ALL THINGS TRAINS. He collects lanterns, dining car china, step stools, conductor hats and more. There are even working engines at the Railroad Museum in Perris, Ca that he volunteers at. It is not uncommon to have film crews there for Hollywood productions......so fun to see the steam engines at work!

Thank You for joining the fun today!
