Catalog Sneak Peek w/ Work of Art Quick card

Thank you for joining me today with a Sneak Peek at one of the new
stamp sets from the NEW 2014-15 Stampin'Up catalog.

isn't that a cool name?

I think you will find that you can be an amazing ARTIST yourself with this fun and EASY set. It's simple, has solid stamps for those who don't like having to color in an image, and will look fabulous using so many different colors.

There are 11 stamps which include 4 sentiments and 7 artistic elements .
( see below)

1. Do You Love the look of watercolour?
2. Do you know how to stamp off an inked image to achieve a lighter effect?
3. Do you enjoy a touch of shimmer?

You can say YES to all three questions once the Artist in you makes this quick and easy card. You'll need the ink colors RED REAL, Gold Metallic and Black.

1.   Make a Very Vanilla card base cut 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and scored @ 4 1/4"
      on the  8 1/2" side.
2.   Using Real Red ink, stamp the brushed square image in solid red, then
stamp off the remaining ink a 2nd time (slightly overlap image), repeat
again for the three lightest image.
3.   Using Gold Metallic Ink, stamped the crescent brushed image twice as
shown above. Do not stamp off as in step 2.
4.   Stamp the individual sentiments ...."Thank" in black and the "You" in Red.
5.   Now you could stop here if you want, but it literally took me minutes to
cut a 5 1/2" x 1" piece of Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. Place glue dots under
the gold dots on the vellum so you don't see any adhesive through the
6.   Finish your look off with a simple bow tied with Gold Metallic Bakers Twine.

See how EASY that was! And I'm playing with even more colors in the next few days to show you additional inspiration. There's an artist in you somewhere and before you know it you can make your own " WORK OF ART ". Coming soon to a mailbox near you...available June 2nd.

2014-15 SU Catalog preview night & Giveaways

Photo: Had a very exciting night as Stampin Up broadcast live across 40 movie theatre screens in various cities in the US....all demonstrators received the New 2014-15 catalog and free stuff.

My team and I had a fabulous time last night at the
STAMPIN 'UP 2014-15 Catalog reveal Event in Sacramento.
Seriously, it was like a mini convention in 40 movie theatres across the U.S..
Shelley Gardner and the rest of the Stampin'Up home office presenters gathered in Long Beach, CA and streamed the unveiling to all the theatres for us to view.....how cool is that!

My Friend Denise tried to get a sneak before they opened the boxes...
it's great way to torture yourself when you arrive early.

They all had us laughing , cheering and waiting for the reveal of the new catalog products. Versatile New stamp sets, new punches, great new bundles and kits, the always anticipated new IN-COLORS and Over the Top Designer Papers. They showed us Make and Takes using new items with the focus on
3 levels of stampers.
The beginner.. looking for simple projects.
The Occasional stamper.....loves the idea of kits and everything is included.
The Avid crafter.....loves having all the supplies for their creative projects.

Which stamper are you?
Which ever one you are you'll be sure to find the perfect products in the upcoming catalog...going LIVE June 1st.

BONUS...We were all surprised when the presenters told us they would be doing PRIZE PATROL as part of the evenings schedule. I was THRILLED to have 2 of my team members WIN prizes from the New Catalog. Mary Middendorf won a super cute baby stamp set, so perfect for Mary as she is a great grandma now. Sweet Paula Strang scored 3 New In-Color stamp pads, obviously thrilled and excited about attending Convention this year in July.

I decided that it would be fun to do a little 3-d giveaway as a fun way to share with attendees I didn't know at the event. A little bit of chocolate for 24 receipients ...yum, And did you know I only ate one nugget while making them.

I used a Bermuda Bay marker and inked up just a portion of the Label Love stamp to achieve the clean sentiment on the bright Kaleidoscope Designer PaperThe white sentiment and DSP are mounted on a piece of Crushed Curry card stock that is punched at both ends with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.

Create a 1" scored base for the Hershey nuggets to rest on.
Tie it up with the beautiful Bermuda Bay 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon.

Be sure and circle back this way when I reveal a SNEAK PEEK
on May 1st of a SUPER versatile stamp set  from the new catty.

Saying good-bye. Get your favorite products before they're gone for good! Shop now.

FYI, Today's Designer paper is retiring!

Vintage Butterfly Hello

I love it when I 'm surprised by the outcome of my card designing.
Honestly I wasn't sure about the color combo and trying to find just the right mix of contrast and balance was a challenge. Having the designer paper in just the right colors made a huge jumping off point and I knew I wanted to focus on the CRisp Cantaloupe instead of the other colors.
Phew, I think I pulled it off! LOL

PPA201 April 24

Here's a run down on the elements I used..

1.   Create a whisper white card base.
2.   Cut 2 DSP panels 5 1/4" x 2"
Smokey Slate from the Eastern Elegance DSP
Cantaloupe from the Birthday Basics DSP
         Both DSP paper are retiring.

3.   Cut a 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" square Whisper white panel and stamp the
Delicate Doilies (retired and now sold out this week..arghhhh!)
      in Crisp Cantaloupe ink.
You could substitute the HAPPY DAY stamp set with a Doily look instead.
Happy Day

4.   Apply the white layer to a Early Espresso layer cut 3" x 2".
5.   Stamp the HELLO banner from the Perfect Pennants stamp set in
Early Espresso ink and die cut the shape with the matching framelits and
a magnetic platform. Apply to the white panel.
6.   Wrap a piece of Summer Starfruit satin ribbon around the panel.
7.   Punch a Crisp Cantaloupe Scalloped Tag Topper and center over
the DSP panels on the side.
8.   Pop up the Espresso and White panel with dimensionals and center
in the middle of the card.
9.   The Elegant Butterfly has 3 layers.
Punch a Early Expresso layer, a Smokey Slate DSP layer
and a  Bitty Butterfly punched with Silver Glimmer paper and inked with
a Summer Starfruit and a sponge dauber. Apply to ribbon with
      mini Glue Dots.
10. Add a vintage feel with the feminine touch of Basic Pearls to the ribbon.

I enjoyed showing you todays project and thinking about other combinations to use with this sketch.  What colors would you choose? Any requests?

Technique Twist #22....Triple Stamping

Welcome to the Technique Twist
It's all about cutting three layers of paper, stacking the layers
and then stamping on top of the layers all at one time.
Once the stack of 3 layers are stamped, back each layer with a
contrasting solid mat layer.

You will have gaps around the second and third layers, however, when you add the matting layers, the gaps will disappear.
MY TWIST was to use FRAMELITS for my layers!
Here is a tutorial for you !

The card I created has a 5 1/2 " x 5 1/2" Black square base which means I cut it 5 1/2" x 11" and scored the 11" side at 5 1/2".

Cut a white panel 5" x 5" and 2 white layers using the Window Frames Collection Framelits. Place white layers on top each other and stamp with Secret Garden images in Strawberry Slush, Tangerine Tango, Coastal Cabana, Tempting Turquoise and Basic Black inks.

Info on stamping the flower layers  HERE

Cut Tempting Turquoise Layers for each of the 2 stamped flower panels.Pop up each of those panels with dimensionals to apply to the card base later.
Stamp in black ink the THANK YOU sentiment from the Itty Bitty Banners set. It's easy to cut out that perfect curve edge on the image with the Magnetic Platform and matching Bitty Banners Framelits.
Punch a hole in the first layer and run a piece of Strawberry Slush ribbon through it. Tie a bow of Satin Tangerine Tango ribbon around the ruffled ribbon.
Pop up the sentiment near the top of the ribbon and finish the look with an adorable Coastal Cabana Boutique Detail at the end of the sentiment.

While I was finishing this post my husband walked in and said " wow..that's really cool"!  Jus saying ,that doesn't happen very often... LOL  I hope you enjoy it also!

Now it's YOUR TURN, come join the Triple Stamping Challenge HERE

FYI, the Secret Garden unfortunately is one of my favorite sets that
is currently retiring and will no longer be available. Don't miss out
having this versatile set in your collection.

Bye Bye "Hearts a Flutter"

Hello Stampers,
Today I found 2 great challenges for my card inspiration!

I have to say I sort of struggled with the colors at first. You know, like the saying " the lights are on, but nobody is home ".

I find that if a play around with several color pieces it finally comes together.
I wanted the large heart to set the stage so it made sense to have my darkest color behind it. The rest of the card evolved from there as I moved my pieces from place to place.

TIP: (I stamped and die cut several images from this stamp set to create a final design. Any of the leftover pieces get stored in my stamp case so I can easily use them for another card next time.)

Check out want the Design Teams at each of the challenges
have done and play along.

Stampin Up came out with the list of retiring stamps sets this week so I thought it would be fun to feature one of my favorites....Hearts a Flutter! Each of my featured hearts were die cut with the matching framelits. I mixed up the fresh look of the hearts with a layer of burlap ribbon for some added texture. All of my paper pieces including the card base were sponged with Crumb Cake ink to create a vintage feel....it's my go to technique to make things vintage. I still had some of that super cute Blushing Bride satin pleated ribbon.....my card was begging for it so I slapped on a row. The tiny little "HELLO" is from the Pennant Parade stamp set and punched out with the Jewelry Tag ( retired). Linen Thread and a Vintage Trinket finish off the sentiment detailing.

Thank You for visiting today!

Secret Garden Birthday

Spring is Here and April is the month for Spring Colors
and Birthday Celebrations in our family.

Spring colors have started appearing and I was so excited when my purple and yellow irises appeared this year, just in time for Easter. They are so vibrant and fragrant. I love to stare at the penetrating sunlight that hits them first thing in the morning.

And as far as birthdays go we had 5 to celebrate so far....1 more to come! I love having mine in the month of April and it was a big one this year...lol.

It was easy to see why I choose the following challenges for todays card inspiration... Connie and Mary's sketch was so versatile and I already had the colors and theme swirling in my head for days.

The purple colored eggplant flower I featured is the largest one in the Secret Garden stamp set and has the matching framelits. Unfortunately they are retiring with this current catalog. The patterned paper is one from the Epic Day This and That DSP. I used the Postage Stamp punch for the 3 Pear Pizzazz panels. White embossing was uses for the stamped images and creates a nice contrast with the deep purple Eggplant color. The final coordinating touch is Daffodil seam binding tied around a Pear Pizzazz button to create a nice pop of color on the bold flower.
