Shabby Chic Fabric Heart Tutorial

Do you have Fabric waiting be turned into something Shabby and Vintage?
Look how cute it looks on my vintage teapot.

Well I'm Back with the tutorial on how to make this
SHABBY CHIC stuffed Fabric Heart

Using a Big Shot machine cut 4 layers of fabric out, 1 at a time using the largest heart in the HEARTS COLLECTION Framelits. run back and forth through the machine each layer that you cut to insure that you cut all the way through the fabric. Pull the heart apart from the fabric and if it is stubborn just give it a good  tug...remember it's shabby!

Pin all 4 layers together with the top and the bottom layers showing the right side of the fabric facing out. Thread a large needle with Linen Thread about 36" total or about 17" on each side (2 threads). No need to knot the two threads together.

Start to weave the threaded needle through the fabric, pull through leaving a tail of linen thread about 4".

Continue the stitching process all the way around the heart stopping about 2 inches from where you first started.

Temporarily anchor your needle in the fabric to use later to close off the stuffing hole and then take your left over fabric scraps from your die cutting to push inside the heart. Plump or squishy it's up to you depending on how much you want to fill it.

Remove the Needle and finish stitching the heart closed. Cut the thread and release the needle.

Seperate the four hanging thread and use 2 to thread a VERY VINTAGE DESIGNER BUTTON. These little vanilla buttons are embossed with patterns and eyelet edges...so perfect for this project.

Tie the two threads together in a knot, then pull all 4 threads together and tie a knot at the bottom of the button.

Tie a bow with Crumb Cake Tulle (available in the Clearance Rack) and trim with Paper Snips.

Cut through both of the loops on the bow. Here's a view of the finished one.

Cut a 3" banner out of 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon. Attach Bow and Burlap to the heart with a VINTAGE TRINKET safety pin.

Attach 2 Antique Brads through the Burlap Ribbon

Cut a 4" piece of Victoria Crochet trim, fold in half and attach to the top of the heart with another Trinket safety pin.

Attach one more safety pin to the Burlap Ribbon for the final Vintage element.

The perfect keepsake or gift
for that simple vintage feel in your home decor

I currently have mine displayed on a metal vintage mailbox I picked up at an antique store in Healdsburg, Ca. The top of the box is filled with dried lavender from the garden of my SIL  Laurie , who lives in that town.
Can you smell the relaxing Lavender from where you are???

Thank you for joining me today.....

Technique Twist #17 Puzzle Piece Resist

I'm back again with another  Technique Twist

it's #17 and called "Puzzle Piece Resist"

Grab the Badge!

see the link to the tutorial on Splitcoast and check out
what the rest of the Design Team has done HERE

I was really surprised how easy this was to put together and thoroughly enjoyed the results. It's on my "let's do it again" list. The tutorial uses CLEAR embossing powder but I threw my T W I S T into by using Gold instead.

1.  Start with a Soft Suede card base.
2.  Cut and attach a Early Espresso panel measuring 5 1/4" x 4".
3.  Cut a whisper white layer 5" x 3 3/4".
4.  Dust the white paper with the Embossing Buddy.
5.  With clear VERSAMARK ink, stamp the flowers from the Mixed Brunch stamp
     set .
6.  Sprinkle Gold Embossing powder on the inked images, tap the paper  to
remove any excess powder that does not stick to the ink.
7.  Using the Heat Tool , melt the embossing powder onto the paper.
8.  Place the leaf die cut from the Secret Garden framelits in your selected spot
on the embossed paper. This becomes your puzzle piece.
9.  Using a sponge with Crumb Cake, Baked Brown Sugar and Soft Suede inks,
sponge color right over the top of the embossed images with soft swirls of
color. I used Early Espresso in the flower centers.
10. Now color your puzzle piece with black ink..I used my Basic Black marker.
11. Attach the embossed panel to the Expresso panel you cut (see#2).
12. Time to glue your puzzle piece back into the large embossed panel.
13. Decorate with Gold Bakers Twine.

Quick Tag/Top Note with Pleats

I Loved making this Quick card by grabbing one of the tags in the
Tag a Bag Accessory kit.

The tags are already pre cut and hole punched, just tear them apart from the sheet in the kit. How easy is that!  Grab your favorite ribbons and decorate the top of the tag. I used Crisp Cantaloupe Ruffled Ribbon and Island Indigo Bakers Twine. A 1/2" strip of polka dot Birthday Basics DSP was pleated and taped around the sides of the tag. The cantaloupe hexagon is the perfect size for the sweet little sentiment on the Island Indigo striped tag. You can Enhance the tag stripes with an Island Indigo Top Note panel and bring out the soft blue in the polka dot background by using a Pool Party card base.

Tag a Bag Accesory Kit

Here are all the great choices in the kit,
plus it includes baker's twine and mini clothespins...easy and quick!

Chalk Board Valentine Easel

I've been wanting to make one of these Chalk Board easels for quite some time. I just thought they were the cutest thing. Well guess what , so did my local downline team...yep we made them at our January downline meeting. I made details instructions for them saving them a trip to Becky's blog where I saw the idea, which she adapted from Angie in the U.K.. Thanks Becky and Angie for this super FUN project!

I inked up the Woodgrain embossing folder with Soft Suede ink by dragging it across the surface of the folder. (Tip...Ink it on the side that says Stampin'Up). Insert Crumb Cake card stock and run through the Big Shot machine.

Use the Chalkboard technique I did HERE. And for your inspiration here are more Chalk Board Samples...just click on the photos for details about the projects.

Now it's time to try out your own chalkboard style card.....
