We Had a Great Time at Stamp Camp

A Great Time was had by All at the Placer Teen Center on Sunday.
From beginners to our more seasoned stampers, we
all couldn't wait to dive right into the excitement of the day.

My Stamp and Stretch Team set up 10 project stations featuring the Celebrate the Everyday Catalog. Each project was created to be finished in 15 minutes  with most of the supplies cut and ready to be stamped, punched or embossed. All the attendees loved the opportunity to TRY OUT new products and watch product demonstrations.

Here's cute little Jackie Weber from Sacramento with one of her guests. Everyone loved trying out the magnetic platform with the STARBURST SAYINGS and Framelit Dies at Jackie's station. I think she got a couple people hooked on that amazing magnetic tool. (project photo coming)

Sally Strohm aka SAL (Loomis), demonstrated how to make an adorable mini envelope on her project using the envelope board.

How cute is that!!!! I love the Modern Medley DSP Black/cream color combo with the Bermuda Bay and Red Glimmer paper. That Glittery Heart is tucked in so sweetly with the surrounding rhinestones and looks so shiny IRL . This is a perfect card for any age group don't you think?

The Main display table featured all the 10 projects plus a BONUS 3-d Valentine Treat Bag. Of Course we also had project displays of other items from the Celebrate Catalog for their inspiration. With so many wonderful products in the NEW catalog it was hard to decide which ones to bring and share. ( o.k. confession time, my Big Red sleigh....the same one we all drove to convention in, was packed with my newest Stampin'Up obsessions, which we just had to share with everyone). I think just about everyone won a door prize from the big prize box... Retired paper, stamp sets, hardware, ribbon and a few 3-D projects....big smiles all around as they got to choose their favorite from the box.

Marsha Jahn's project station featured the art of watercolor. A beautiful Valentine card painted with layers of reinkers. Some of the attendees had a new experience using the Aqua Painters and ink, you might say they Fell in Love with the Technique!

Mary Middendorf (Cool, CA) had 2 stations of fun. A Valentine card featuring 3 of the FREE choices from Sale-A-Bration using Strawberry Slush and Vanilla. I have to say it's a YUMMY combination. I love the fact that she made this adorable card with just one color of ink.

Mary's second station featured the Kaleidoscope DSP, Triangle Punch and the Geometrical stamp set. (photos coming)

Here's Kendra and Millie enjoying using the Retro Fresh DSP at Jackie's station. We had 2 stations using this wonderful Designer Paper. Here is the project I featured with this paper.

I simply feel in love with the Retro Fresh collection of Designer Paper and matching Washi Tape. I used So Saffron, Tangerine Tango, Coastal Cabana Coordinations paper that was lightly sanded and Baked Brown Sugar card stock.
The Small Heart punch and Champagne Glimmer Paper gave a  perfect finishing touch and matches the Brown Sugar so sweetly! The sentiment is from the Perfect Pennants stamp set in the Celebrate the everyday Catalog.

Technique Twist Time using the
in the new Occasions Catalog

Grab the Badge!
This time we are doing the Bubble Background Technique by combining
color, soap, water and creating bubbles with a straw.

My Supplies included 6 drops Bermuda Bay Reinker,
a squirt of Dish Soap, H2O and a straw!

My TWIST was that I used the straw to pick up batches of the bubbles and then blew them onto my paper. I love the watercolor feel of the spots. When I was done with the bubbles I decided to take advantage of having a bowl of Bermuda Bay coloring and dropped 14" piece of white Bakers Twine into the solution. After about 5 minutes I pulled it out and squeezed it a bit before drying it with my heat tool. I just love how it matches my paper and design.

Happy Watercolor

Now JUMP on over to the Technique Twist
and see what the other Designers have come up with...

Thank you so much for joining me today!

Hello Sailor with WASHI TAPE

There was something about the Hello Sailor stamp set that caught my eye...

1. Great for Guy cards
      2. Nautical Theme is classic
                              3. Sentiment is great for Anniv. or Valentines
              4. Great Elements for a Little boy

You can see how versatile this stamp can be!

Here is my second version by simple stamping off the Pacific Point ink that I used on the whale. I also placed the striped washi across the bottom instead. Which version do you like?

Here is a close-up of the strip of Burlap ribbon I cut and stapled to my tag.

Hello, Sailor

How would you use it? Stay tuned for more samples mate...

Getting Inky time...Wahoo! Last week I had a chance to stamp with some of my local team ladies at a La Bou Restaurant in Roseville. It was such a hoot playing with recent stamp sets I purchased and doing the other shoebox swaps the ladies provided. Eating, stamping and inspiring each other...who could ask for more. Sally (Loomis,CA) and Mary(Cool,CA) both recently promoted to Supervisor last month and Terry recently joined our group last fall, I love their enthusiasm and creative spirit, laughter and sweet smiles. (oh did I mention they have baking and candy making skills too...that spells YUMMY TROUBLE). If you are interested in joining us the next time contact me and I'll let you know when we are meeting. I thought I would share with you the card that Terry created for us using the Blessed Easter stamp set from the Occasions catalog. Sweet and simple!

Terry had the image already black embossed and run through the Big Shot with the Framed Tulips embossing folder. She gave us markers and ribbon to finish the card. I love markers to color with...brings back childhood coloring memories. Notice the darker part of the flower base? Simple add a little touch of the green marker to give the flower more depth. FYI, the Tulip folder is on sale this week if you are interested.

Please join me tomorrow to see what shoebox swap I  brought.

Thank You for visiting today!

Downline Meeting and Stamp Camp

We had a great time at our January Downline Meeting starting off
with a potluck soup and salad bar.

It was my first time having creamy cauliflower soup...so yummy! Thanks Marsha . I always love seeing each of the potluck items show up..pasta, green, broccoli you name it, also yummy bread and butter. Sue brought chocolate chip brownies, I think a gained a few pounds just smelling them. A BIG shout out to Sue Whitney aka San Juan Sue who was visiting from the state of Washington. She and Hubby are making their vacation home their retirement home and Sue can't wait to meet and share with stampers on the Island.

I decided to make our meeting's  focus be on 15min. cards. I showed them a card that I made in 15 min. , showed them all the cutting measurements and then a additional card using the same products. The second card had the same measurements but a different layout from the first one.

The Goal ?  Cut all the same pieces using the same products but end up with a collection that looks very different from each other. A PERFECT way to make a stationary gift pack or use as a class.

Additional time was spent reviewing CONVENTION NEWS, upcoming new products, sharing Sale-A-Bration with others and planning for our TEAM Stamp Camp in just a few weeks. We are sooo excited about sharing new products with all the attendees and hope that you can join us if you live in the Sacramento area.

"Follow My Heart" Project 6

Welcome back for the last project in this series..
SweetHeart Treat Bag Project 6 of 6 using the
"Follow My Heart" stamp set.
It's an adorable treat bag you can make in just 15 minutes.
There are all types of goodies you could fill the bag with...
my personal favorite would be Peanut M&M's, but then I have
never passed up a dark chocolate Junior Mint
Gift Cards, cookies and diamond rings all fit inside too!
These little SweetHeart Treat bags are so cute with the little white hearts and they are so durable too. The top of the bag already has a die cut zig zag edge so that saves you an extra step of time of design detail. With this bag having a finished size of 4 1/4" x 3 1/2" you can easily fit a couple of the items mentioned above. You know your favorite Valentine will love that.

1.  Stamp the Eiffel Tower in Bermuda Bay ink on a Whisper White piece
     measuring 3"x 1 1/2".
2.  Mount that on a Bermuda Bay Panel measuring 3 1/4" x 1 3/4".
3.  Using Real Red ink stamp the "True Love" sentiment from the
Follow My Heart  stamp set on Whisper White card stock.
4.  Using Paper Snips free form cut the sentiment .
5.  Using dimensionals pop up the Eiffel Tower and sentiment on the
     SweetHeart Bag.
6.  Fill the bag and wrap the Bakers Twine that comes in the
SweetHeart Treat Bag kit around the top of the bag 3 times and tie in a bow.
( you may want to staple the bag closed first ).
If you want to make this and ALL of my 6 Valentine Projects you
can find the items in MY ONLINE STORE HERE.

A Swallowtail Blossom

Swallowtail Meets the Blossom Punch

I decided to join the Color Challenge with Connie and Mary this week, I just loved the color combination. I also found a great sketch for the Monday Lunchtime Challenge that Mary Jo is running. I've been wanting to do more with my Swallowtail butterfly stamp so I thought " Do I have to use the whole image every time I want to use it "? Then it came to me "NO". Let's just use part of it and then I'll punch out just a portion and use that. Thus my card was born.

CCMC284  Technostamper Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge

I used a sponge and inked up a piece of white card stock with heavy areas of Bermuda Bay and Strawberry Slush. It's O.K. to have the colors overlay each other for a more natural feel. Once the colors were down I inked up one of the wings from the Swallowtail with Black Ink. If you are unfamiliar with that Stamp it's on page 71 of the Annual catalog.

Then it was just a  matter of layering  the Blossom punched image with a 1 3/8" white circle. A 1 1/4" Scalloped Circle and a 3/4" Circle of Silver Glimmer Paper. Oh, oh, I spy a Boo Boo...how did I not see that....a bitty bite out of one of my scallops...oh well the pattern must have hidden it!

The Strawberry Slush card base has a panel of white ( 5"x 3 3/4") run through the Big Shot and the Stripes embossing folder .

The Bermuda Bay panel measures 3 1/4" x 2".
Strawberry Slush Banner 3" x 3/4".
Black Chevron Ribbon 3" (wrap and glue 1/4" underneath the B.B. panel.
White Banner 2 1/4" x 5/8"

Use Petite Pairs and Black ink to stamp the Happy Birthday Wishes Banner. Of course I needed another small touch of sparkle...thank you Small Heart Punch!

New Years Resolution " Get More Birthday Cards in the Mail "
this one goes out tomorrow

Technique Twist-Blurred Vision Watercoloring

Welcome to Technique Twist # 14
Blurred Vision Watercoloring and
Technique Twist BLOG HOP

Grab the Badge!

The basic concept of the technique is to stamp an image with classic ink and
then place water on the edges to make the ink bleed.

My Twist on the Technique went as follows...
First, Die cut a white panel using a Big Shot and the Apothecary Accents Framelits set. I used the Secret Garden stamp set and 3 SU markers....Island Indigo, Wisteria Wonder and Calypso Coral. Each flower had 3 petals marked up with the Indigo and Wisteria markers ( use the brush tip end of the marker to get the best coverage). Next I ran a line of Calypso Coral in each middle. I used my Aqua Painter filled with water to place a light touch of water on each of the inked lines. Once dry it was run through the Big Shot machine with the Polka Dot embossing folder.

I took a piece of the wide BURLAP RIBBON and cut off the long side to reveal the threads which I then pulled off. I tied 1 piece around the stamped panel and then attached an additional looped piece. I love the texture that this creates and matches up with the paper used for the sentiment panel.

The white embossed sentiment on Crumb Cake paper is from the HAPPY DAY stamp set. (Wet embossing instructions click here). The Top Note panel behind the white is die cut using Island Indigo card stock. The card base is using Calypso Coral paper. I kinda have a tropical feel going on, guess I wish I were in Hawaii!

Now it's your turn.....even if you don't twist it come try out the technique and share it with us !
