Pink Butterflies and Vellum....Bokeh Style
We're Twisting it up over at the
# 8 Bokeh Effect
Bokeh: The term comes from the Japanese word (暈け or ボケ), which means "blur" or "haze", or boke-aji (ボケ味), the "blur quality".
I knew right away when the Design Team decided to feature this technique that I would be working with vellum card stock. It's perfect for a soft , toned down fuzzy image, yet translucent enough the see overlapping images and color.
I choose to feature shades of pinks in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. "Thoughts of You" seemed so appropriate to reflect on victims of this disease. I am a survivor myself celebrating 10 yrs. of being cancer free. No chemo or radiation , dodged that bullet. But enough of that...So for the card I decide to make The base with Raspberry Ripple cs and I used a whisper white Top Note panel to make the butterflies pop out a bit. I punched through the white Top Note for my first butterfly allowing the card base color to show through. Then it was Pink Piroutte, a Strawberry Slush and a Vellum Butterfly all underneath the cover vellum piece.
One more Strawberry Slush and Vellum Butterfly are placed on the top of the vellum. Because of all the soft diffused look I want the add a contrast of sparkle....rhinestones to the rescue! The sparkle partners really well with the silver embossed sentiment and Mini Brad corners.
There are a lot of fun ideas of using this technique
and some great examples from the rest of the DESIGN TEAM
