Build a CaKe with Designer Paper

You just can't help but LAUGH when you read this sentiment
from the "YIPPEE SKIPPEE" stamp set

carbs, schmarbs!
{EAT THE CAKE}

what better way to show off the sentiment than to have a really fun cake
to go with it, 3 tiered no less! I'm sure it's CHOCOLATE on the inside, right?

Inspiration for this project came from the challenge HERE at

After looking at all the super cute patterns and colors on the BIRTHDAY BASICS DESIGNER PAPER, I knew I could create a fun and colorful tiered cake. A special BONUS was being able to fussy cut the candles for some added fun.

The Birthday Basic paper has a really fun mix of color choices including....
Bermuda Bay, Crisp Cantaloupe, Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit, Very Vanilla and Basic Gray. With so many color choices it's easy to pull out 2-3 colors and work from there. I wanted mine a little softer so I choose the highlighted colors above. I also added Pool Party as a toned down version of the Bermuda Bay.

The GORGEOUS GRUNGE stamp set was used to create the super cool background .....very trendy right now!

Here's how to make the card

1.  Make a Very Vanilla card base.
2.  Using the Gorgeous Grunge  stamp set , stamp the Crisp Cantaloupe striped
image, then the Bermuda Bay large splatt, the the Pool Party in the bottom
     right hand corner.
3.  Cut a Pool Party piece 3 3/4" x 2 3/4"
4.  Cut a Very Vanilla piece 3  1/2" x 2 1/2", apply to the Pool Party piece
5.  Create the cake layers
     Numbers  2" x 1 1/8"
     Dots        1 5/8" x 3/4"
     Balloons   1 1/4" x 5/8"
6.  I Fussy Cut 7 of the candles with my Paper Snips . Why 7 ? it seemed to
balance well with the top cake layer. 3 tall and 4 short candles gives a nice
     tiered look.
7.  Build the cake with the patterned pieces starting with the bottom cake layer
and starting about 5/8" from the bottom of the vanilla panel.
8.  Pop up the whole Birthday cake panel using dimensionals under the
     POOL Party piece.

9.   Create the Sentiment Banner...
      Cut a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe card stock 3 1/4" x 1"
      Cut a piece of Very Vanilla card stock 2 3/4" x 3/4"
10.  Using Bermuda Bay, stamp the sentiment in the center of the Vanilla
      card stock.
11.  Using a 1" Square Punch  and placing the corner of the square in the
center of each banner end....punch the banner flag tips.
12.  Assemble the banner layers together and pop up with dimensionals.
13.  Fussy cut the party hat and glue to the banner
