Elegant Bird Bigz DieElegant Bird Bigz DieElegant Bird Bigz Die
Use the Elegant Bird Die Cut on Fabric and Felt to Create
a ONE OF A KIND Shabby Chic Piece!

Here I go S T R E T C H I N G my Stampin'Up Products once again!

This fun stuffed Bird can be inserted over a metal or wood stick for placement in an Indoor Plant or topiary. Or try Inserting a string above the neck and hang from a twig branch or over your mantle. How about creating some unique wedding decor!

You will need...
A Big Shot Machine, Elegant Bird Die (retiring), SU fabric, felt, hand sew or sewing machine, fabric pins, thread, ribbon, tulle and rhinestones

1. Die cut 2 bodies and 2 wings of each of the fabric and felt.
2. Place fabric on wings and pin ( make sure the wings are mirrored images )
3. Machine stitch close to the edge of the wings all the way around and do
yourself a favor, just stitch a straight line when you go pass the scalloped
4. Repeat the same process when it comes to the body, again making sure you
have mirrored pieces. Don't worry about your stitching being perfect distance
from the edges, it's a Shabby Chic look!
5. Pin the bodies together with the felt touching each other.
6. Place the two wings together with the fabric touching each other.
7. Tuck the straight edges of the wings together into the top of the body as the
    picture shows below.

8. Pin the wings in place with the wings closed.
9. Starting on the outside edge just past the wing where it is inserted you are
going to stitch around the body again except this time you are going through
four layers, fabric , felt, felt, fabric ( notice the tail above ). Two rows of
stitching will now show on the outside adding to the shabby chic look.
Stop stitching before you get to the opposite edge of the inserted wing.
10. Unpin and PULL OUT the WINGS from the body which will now leave and
opening to stuff. I took left over scraps from the original pieces die cut and
stuffed them down into the body.
11. Once you have the desired poof in the body ( it doesn't take much) reinsert
the wings back into the body. Pin in place.
12. Stitch the wings opening closed. ( if you are going to put a string or ribbon
loop in the top be sure and tuck it in prior to stitching the wings closed )
TIP*** If you place the string too far back on the body the bird will be off balance and not hang properly. Hold the string from the top before stitching to find your perfect balance position!

13. Decorate the neck with Stampin'Up tulle, seam binding or lace trim.
14. Attach Rhinestones or pearls for the eyes.
